Welcome back to school

Welcome back to another year at Al Qua'a school. I hope everyone had a good holiday and made the best use of their free time.

I visited family in Canada and also took time to see the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Las Vegas.

Important news....the first week will only be 7 periods long, so please do not miss any classes, especially English as you might only get 1 class each day. As soon as we get more English teachers we will be going back to 9 periods.

Please have your school supplies with you. All students need a folder for their english work. Also be sure to have a pen and a blank notebook for writing in.

End of School Year

This is the last post for the 2013-2014 year. I hope that everyone has a great summer and I look forward to seeing all the returning students next year.
I will be going back to Canada to visit with my family and friends. I am especially looking forward to going to the rodeo at the Calgary Stampede. It is a great celebration in my hometown of Calgary, Alberta. The Chuckwagon Races are especially exciting.

I hope to come to the Camel Races here in Al Qua'a with the other English Teachers (if we can arrange the time with the school).

Thanks to all my students and the parents I have met this year for an excellent experience. I feel blessed.

Final exams ( important news)

Grade 12 Term 3 Final Practice Exam
Final Exams are coming up over the next few weeks .    STUDENTS MUST COME TO THE EXAMS ON TIME.  Any students who show up more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed to write their exam.

Please leave your cellphone at home or give to the teacher in the exam room. If you have a cellphone during the exam you may have your exam taken away.

The third trimester is quickly coming to an end. Students have been handing in their work and making presentations to finish off
their assignments.

weeks will see us working on essay writing and test taking skills.

May 5, 2014 First IST completed

The first ISTs are now completed for both the Grade 11 and 12 classes. If you missed the IST in grade 11 please see Mr Kim and you can do it in class.

We are getting ready for the second IST in grade 11... the students are going to be role playing with a partner on the differences between a good citizen and a bad citizen. I hope to be finished the IST by the end of next week.

Grade 11 students should be keeping their ecart up to date so they can receive complete marks. Remember Vocabulary tests are usually every Monday.

The grade 12 class is going to make a "HOW TO" presentation. They can ake a video or powerpoint on how to fold/wear their Gutra.  Students make the presentation and save it to a usb stick and bring it in to class. They can also present directly to the class by making a speech.

Second week of Trimester 3

Students are back at work and the grade 12 classes have just finished their English EMSA exams.

This is a short trimester so the first IST assignments will be finished next week.
