Grade 12 PROJECT

My life today is very different than my grandfather’s life was. Although we have to deal with the same four aspects of _food,  entertainment,  transport, and technology, the way we use them every day is different.

FOOD

In the past and today we eat camel and drink water. But today we have fast food like, hamburger and  pizza,  and we drink pepsi. This is different than the past.

ENTERTAINMENT

In my grandfather’s time he would sing, dance, and play the drums if he wanted entertainment,  but today I can watch a movie or listen to the radio to be entertained.

TRANSPORTATION

To get around my grandfather either went by camel or he walked every where. I can also walk to the store, but if I want to go far away I will use a car or bus.

TECHNOLOGY

There was very little technology in my Grandfather’s time, he only had fire and the wheel. I however have many things like computers, a  phone, and a electricity.

The CEPA-English exam (1st attempt for 2015 NAPO applicants)
Make sure you are registered before the deadline

From CEPA website
CEPA English

CEPA-English is used to make decisions about eligibility for Bachelors’ programs at UAE University (UAEU), Zayed University (ZU) and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). While each of the federal institutions has its own admissions criteria, a score of 150 on CEPA-English has been widely used as a cut-off point. Students achieving this score, in addition to other requirements, are usually eligible for Bachelor programs at HCT, UAEU and ZU.
CEPA-English is a two hour exam which consists of three sections: Grammar and vocabulary, Reading, and Writing. There is no break time between the three parts of the test. Instructions are in English and Arabic. The test is administered in two formats: paper-and-pencil, and computer-based. You will be allocated to one format or the other.

There is no break time between the three parts of the test. There is a recommended time for each section: 45 Minutes for Grammar and Vocabulary, 45 minutes for Reading and 30 minutes for Writing. Instructions are in English and Arabic.

There are 45 grammar items and 40 vocabulary questions. All the questions are multiple-choice. The grammar items measure a candidate’s ability to recognize common grammatical patterns in English and the vocabulary items measure knowledge of common English vocabulary.

The Reading section consists of two descriptive or narrative texts of around 400 words in length, and one non-prose text, such as a web page or a brochure, with a total of 25 multiple-choice questions across the three texts.

The Writing section consists of an essay task of between 150 and 200 words. The quality of student's writing is assessed in terms of grammar, vocabulary, spelling and content.
